IBM LTO 4 tape drive utilizes the SARS (statistical analysis & reporting system) for isolating the failures between hardware and media. The CM module saves the performance history of the tape cartridge and the performance of tape drive is held by the flash drive EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory) both of which is used by SARS for determining the failure’s likely cause.
With the help of SARS the tape drive can r Read the rest of this entry »

Information that has been encrypted by the LTO-4 drive can be recorded on both medias of LTO ultrium WORM and rewritable, so that the data integrity could be maintained. The IBM LTO 35L2086 universal cleaning cartridge is compatible and effective in all the LTO ultrium drives. LTO4 tape technology can read LTO-2 2nd generation ultrium media with speed up to 35 megabytes/sec and can read as well as record data on LTO3 media at rate of 80 megabytes Read the rest of this entry »
